Coastwise confirms its commitment to her clients to carry out its Quality Policy as defined in the management system. We require an active commitment to HSEQ from all our crew, temporary workers and our partners in all our work activities.

Coastwise Health and Safety Policy

 

The Company’s Health and Safety Policy is to prevent accidents and work‐related illnesses among the crew on board company vessels, contractors and visitors. Further the Health and Safety Policy is to ensure continual improvement in occupational health and safety performance.

To reach these goals we are committed to the following:

– That our vessels are maintained and taken care of with regards to health and safety.
– That crew on board our vessels are well educated and motivated for their position.
– That crew on board our vessels have received proper instructions in safety procedures.
– That all requirements from the administration and class are fulfilled.
– That existing national and international legislation are followed.
– That all reported deficiencies are investigated and analyzed with the objective of improving
safety and pollution prevention.
– That crew on board our vessels always wear the right personal protective equipment.
– That equipment used is approved and in good condition.
– That our procedures are followed.
– That risk assessments always are carried out before starting any work where no procedures exist.
– That dangerous chemicals and materials are used only in accordance with procedures and methods that effectively protect employees against accidents and illness.
– That the established safe limits for exposure to, for example, noise, cold, dust and steam are followed.
– That machines, tools and other technical aids are in good working order and used in a sensible manner with regards to health and safety.
– That safety meetings are held as per procedure SMS-012-002 Company verification and review, and are held regularly and always upon accidents and hazardous occurrences.

Coastwise Environmental Policy

The Company’s Environmental Policy is to prevent any harm to the environment. We are committed to continual improvement in environmentally sound performance and pollution prevention.

To reach these goals we are committed to the following:

– Follow existing national and international legislation.
– Establishing and reviewing our environmental objectives and maintaining our vessels to minimize all unnecessary environmental impact.
– Environmentally orientated training on board.
– To keep crew on board and ashore currently updated regarding the environmental regulations considering sea transportation.
– Never throw anything overboard except for food waste when located 12 nautical miles or more from nearest land.
– Send all garbage, including waste from engines and black water generated on board to an approved station ashore.
– Seek to use environmentally friendly anti‐fouling.
– Try to influence suppliers and contractors to operate within environmental standards that are not in conflict with our policies.
– Seek to purchase environmentally friendly products from environmentally certified suppliers to minimize the environmental impact from purchase.
– Continual replacement of equipment and development of an environmentally friendly fleet.
– Use vessels with optimized hull to reduce fuel consumption.
– Closely cooperate with engine manufacturer to reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
– Immediately informing the national authorities in case of accidents which may lead to pollution of the environment.
